As our annual Fairfield Harbour POA elections approach, and we prepare to carefully review each candidate’s answers to the questions the candidate form asks, we need to ask ourselves whether that form asks enough. We will, in fact, be considering candidates who will be making business and banking decisions for our multi-million-dollar organization.
The POA has now updated its form to include better proof of property ownership, why not also insist upon verification of each candidate’s claim to experience – as any prospective employer would? Yes, candidates for our governing Board serve without pay, donating their time and effort on behalf of the community, and we thank them for that. However, the fact remains that the Directors we choose also control the future of the community, and, by extension, the value of the homes we love and value. We need to know whether they are who they claim to be, and whether the experience they claim is actual.
If you agree, please join FACTS in urging the POA to require that all candidates for Board Director – or indeed, any other position of responsibility in our community’s governance and management – submit verifiable proof of the experience they cite.
