Great day for our community was October 17, 2013
Fairfield Harbour Cooperative Business Council recently hosted 60 area Realtors for a Broker Information Day for New Bern Realtors, providing an invaluable opportunity to learn about Fairfield Harbour first hand. The event featured an open house segment with an average of 20 – 25 Brokers at each of the carefully selected houses.
A luncheon at the Recreation Center was sponsored by Farm Bureau Insurance’s Greg Bernhardt and Movement Mortgage’s David Foley in collaboration with Big Apple Pizza and Fairfield Harbour Food & Spirits.
Following lunch, the Realtors initially listened to Mystre’ Van Horn and Larry Knapp, who briefed them about latest Community management matters. Mystre’ proudly announced Fairfield Harbour had been selected as the Extra Large Mixed-Use Community of the Year for an unprecedented second year in a row by CAI of North Carolina. She told them that Larry Knapp, president of the Fairfield Harbour Board of Directors, was recognized by CAI-NC as one of the two North Carolina 2013 Board Members of Distinction.
Larry started his presentation by addressing the two legal issues facing our community. He stated the litigants in a Board of Directors conspiracy case regarding amenity acquisition equaled just one-half of one percent of our property owners. Larry also spoke about another small group of litigants who are suggesting Fairfield Harbour is two communities. He went on to present more facts about life in Fairfield Harbour including community-owned amenities.
Michael Cooper, manager of the Harbour Pointe Golf Course, employee of Billy Casper Golf, told them about improvements at the golf course and the marinas. Ruth Mitchell, from the Beacon, emphasized that the Harbour is a golfing and boating community and, with Waldeane Giacobbe, briefed them about the many clubs and organizations active here. Also discussed were all the Recreation Center amenities.
Other speakers were Aaron Maune from Resort Management Group, Greg Bernhardt from Farm Bureau Insurance, David Foley from Movement Mortgage, Dawn Jones from the NW Creek Marina, Chris Zelinski from the CBC, Roy Simmonds from Fairfield Harbour Food & Spirits, Sarah Walston from Big Apple Pizza. CBC Event Chairs Anita English from My Travel Agent, Suzanne Pendleton from Palm Coast Tours and Sally Stokes from Keller Williams planned and produced the event. Margaret Rose, of Neuse Realty, who recruited many of the speakers for the day, was the Mistress of Ceremonies.
Representatives from Fairfield Harbour organizations who also attended the event and networked with Realtors were Neighborhood Watch-Co Chairs Pat Dumon and Paul Merriman, CERT’s Marcia Richmond, New Neighbors Welcome committee chair, Esther Wilson, Harbour Helpers founder Phylis Wiltrout, Barbara Riordan and Joe Rogers from Soloflytes and our recently honored North Carolina Volunteer of the Year, Joe Schulties from Neighborhood Watch. Several other members of our Board of Directors were also present in support.
The Cooperative Business Council Members who participated and had displays were Maury Thompson from Harbour A/C & Service, Bob Dumon from Harbour Images, Joy Harson from Neuse Realty, Suzanne Pendleton from Palm Coast Tours, and Anita English from My Travel Agent.
The luncheon moved “Progressive luncheon style” to the Resort Management Group building for dessert and door prizes. Aaron Maune welcomed the Realtors to the newly renovated lobby. Aaron explained the rental program to the Realtors. This plan gives Realtors an opportunity to encourage buyers to stay at a timeshare unit while they are looking for property. The residents can rent the timeshare units for those times when they run out of guests rooms and need more space for family gatherings. The RMG team headed by Jennifer Gudatis and Sarah Herrmann coordinated the dessert party.
Of course, it might not have happened without the efforts of Sally Stokes, Gayle Albertini from Gayle Force Design, Ginger Thompson, and others who readied the room at the Recreation Center, and to Andrea and her team at the Broad Creek Recreation Center for welcoming the Realtors, answering their questions, and helping with the post-event clean up afterward.
Our source reports that feedback has been extraordinarily positive, indicating that Agents, several of whom were new to our community, left with a new, and favorable opinion of Fairfield Harbour. Follow-ups with Larry Knapp are planned for Agents who were unable to attend but have requested updates.
